Description
Asana corrections are the hands-on aspect of hatha yoga teaching. Corrections, if made, should always be gentle, effective, and ethical, using the minimum amount of touch possible, and used only when absolutely necessary. Corrections should help the student learn to practice independently and to become better able to sense the needs of their own body. Corrections should therefore be performed with a mix of respect, skill, and confidence.
Corrections also help students remain safe in the practice, understand the objectives of the practice, and to see potential they may not be able to see for themselves.
This video is a resource for graduates of the Sivananda Teachers’ Training Course (TTC) and Advanced Teachers’ Training Course. It offers a detailed review of corrections made to the 12 Basic Asanas as taught in the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams & Centres, as well as several common advanced asana corrections. The video will help you to remember the corrections taught in the courses and to improve your teaching skill and confidence.
The video features close-ups of corrections and hand positions, discussion of proper and improper corrections, and a review of the asana names in Sanskrit and transliteration. You’ll also learn some advanced corrections not taught in the TTC.
The video includes 40 minutes total of instruction and you’ll gain access is for a lifetime so that you can watch it again anytime you feel you need a review.
This course is appropriate for graduates of the Sivananda Teachers’ Training Courses and Advanced Teachers’ Training Courses.
